Attitude – The Magic Word

Attitude – The Magic WordIn his wildly successful program called “Lead the Field” Earl Nightingale said that attitude was and is indeed “The Magic Word”. So much of our success comes down to this one word, ATTITUDE.As I was perusing Facebook recently, I noted someone’s post which stated quite simply and properly, “The only difference between a good day and a bad day is your attitude”.Bob Proctor talks about your attitude being a composite of your thoughts, feelings and actions. Your aware mind controls feelings and gradually dictates whether your feelings will be positive or negative by YOUR choice of thoughts, then your body displays those choices through action and behaviour.

In effect, my belief is that your attitude gets down to your thoughts – and of course our thoughts are the only thing that we have total and unequivocal control over - no-one can make us think anything we don’t want to.

In his book, Man’s Search for Meaning, Victor Frankl wrote, “Everything can be taken from a person but one thing; the last of human freedoms – the ability to choose one’s attitude in any given set of circumstances - to choose one’s own way.” Victor Frankl would know – he was subjected to atrocious therapy and abuse when held as a POW in a focus camp at Auschwitz during the 2 world war.

James Allen wrote in his wonderful little book, As a Man Thinketh, that “good thoughts bear good results, bad thoughts, bad results.” In effect, good attitude, good results, bad attitude, bad results.

There is no getting out of that positive results are always the effect of a positive attitude. Attitude and results are inseparable – they follow one another like night follows day. This is simply stating the law of cause and effect – your thoughts or attitude is the cause and your results are the effect.

Ralph Waldo Emerson stated that “A person is what they think about all day long.” The results you achieve in life are nothing more than an external appearance of your thoughts, feelings and actions.

If you are seeking better results in your life, relationships or business, making an easy decision is the first step to a new life. Decide to become more knowingly aware of the thoughts that you are choosing and challenge yourself to make an identified effort to think more positive thoughts than negative thoughts - if you do this strong and long enough you will progressively find it difficult to remain linked to any negative thought for any length of time.

Today, and every day, remember The Magic Word – ATTITUDE.
