New Years Promises 2014

New Years Promises 2014In 2014 we will once again pledge our unwavering dedication to acts of personal and mutual effort. New Years solutions are an annual chance to reflect on the past and dedicate oneself to a brighter future. In this article, we present some of the most common New Years solutions made each year.

Perhapsthe most important New Years decisionis to not make promises you can’t keep. Without such a promise, the task really would be a futile one! Broken solutions are taken far too lightly, and it can be damaging to regularly break our promises to ourselves. With that in mind, let’s take look at the most popular New Years promises for 2014!

Fall in love

Our resolve to find that special someone who can help us through strife and adversity is a perennial concern that becomes especially salient over the Christmas period. Spending the holidays alone can be a depressing reminder of one’s relationship status. Spending it with family can be equally bothersome when everyone else brings a partner. A resolution to fall is love usually involves being more social, signing up to dating websites, and making an effort to improve one’s look.

Overcome attraction

This is a common new years decision, but one that is frequently moderate. We can become addicted to more than just alcohol and cigarettes. Other common habits include gambling, betting, online poker and bingo games, television, video games, pornography, and hard drugs. Addiction is a grey area, so if you’re not sure, ask family and friends for an objective opinion. Don’t be afraid to seek help. It’s braver to admit the problem than to hide it with pride.

Do anything crazy!

When I say do anything crazy, I’m not talking about anything criminal! But how about seeing a bit more of the world? Take an adventure, even if it’s just a hike in your local woods. The healing effects of opening your senses to the sights, sounds and scents of nature are well recorded. If you’re a bit on the wild side, how about giving sky-diving, hang gliding, or bungee jumping a go? Make 2014 a year to remember!

Help save the planet

Recycling and re-using things that would otherwise end up in dump can be a feel-good encounter. More than just improving mood, recycling will improve the environment we live in. We only get one shot at making this planet our home, and if we screw it up, we’re finished! As well as recycling, we can avoid cooking excess food, or store our leftovers for later. Instead of having the heating on all winter, why not wear an extra thick pair of socks, a thermal vest, or a jumper?

Spend more time with family and friends

The Christmas period can make one yearn to escape the family setting, but this can be a poignant reminder that the atmosphere would be far friendlier if we kept in touch a little more. Many people have lost their family, so we should be grateful for the organization of our own relatives. Time with family can cause us to miss our friends, which helps us to appreciate the amity they bring.
