Understanding life second prize

According to Webster’s dictionary life is the property or quality that distinguishes living organisms from dead organisms and inanimate materials. Now taking closer look at the meaning of life I find that it is a period of time in which a man or a woman lives to achieve goals and targets set by him or herself and spend time with loved ones. Thus precisely life is the physical, mental, and spiritual experiences that constitute existence.

The meaning of life has changed today. Strange as it may seem but the man today is engrossed in so many deals that he does not have time for himself. The daily schedule of an ordinary man is get up at seven. Read the newspaper and have a cup of tea. Leave the children at school on his way to work. Come home in the evening and spend some quality time with his family. Have dinner and the night means a promising sound sleep.

In full 24 hours how much time does he have for himself and his family. About two to three hours. For a businessman chances of a meet might be less. Do things have to be this difficult?

Man today thinks a lot about the world. Thinking what the boss feels about his red shirt? What would people think if he ordered another drink at the bar? Would he be considered a drunkard or a man who lost money in the share market? Well so much is he busy in projecting false images that some where in that pile his own identity is lost forever.

I once asked a friend of mine what was his aim in life. he said to become a doctor. On asking why, he said because his father wants so.

Today man is always doing things which would please people around him. But every night when he goes to sleep he feels that something is missing. One fine day he wakes up one morning and finds that all his hair is white and the skin is wrinkled. That something is still missing. What is that something and where can we find nit? When will we be free these worldly pangs and social obligations?

I once met and old man. By just looking into his eyes you could say that he is happy. I asked his history and the man said he is a retired army officer. He had been up front and he had received gallantry awards many a time. He had no children. Now he just wants to spend his last days with his wife and playing golf.

Is it so hot to lead satisfied life? Well to be perfectly honest I am still in search of an answer which can satisfied my question as well as my mind.

Why are we on earth? Why millions of people are just living out their lives? Why are desires so many and the time fulfill them. so less? It might be that we are caught up in a web of life just waiting for the right time to make an escape.

Hearing stories of sages who were once people doing fine in their lives suddenly without any reason living everything behind makes me feels that the world is an addictive place.

Nowadays people are turning to philosophical gurus to find peace and understand the very meaning of existence. We can call this another step towards finding the purpose of our lives.

Wise people said that man attains nirvana when he finds the purpose of his life. Some say life is like an ice-cream , eat it before it melts and some even say popcorn khao mast ho jao, but you can’t really do everything what people tell you to do.

And then I think of an incident when I saw a baby and a madman laughing together. Well one thing is for sure-ignorance is bliss….. but I don’t want to leave the readers in a haze of thoughts so to conclude I would just like to say just do you want to do as long as you don’t hurt someone’s feelings. After all it’s your life and it is your move.
