Modify is the law of nature. Modify should always be welcomed but if and only if modify is good. Same is true in case of people of 21st centuries. New Millennium has seen a lot change as opposed to the last millennium. Today parents are proud mother and father of the child whose mind worth is no less then precision of a computer. Today‘s twelve year old child is lucky enough to drive the cars of famous manufacturers. Gone are the days where a child had to walk distance and distance to reach the university. No more the modern woman is confined to the four surfaces of their house. She has stepped out of the limit of her house to become a ‘Kalpana Chawla’ to step on the moon, to turn in to a ‘Neerja Bhanol’ to die selflessly to become a parvati to campaign against social evils. To become a ‘Kiran Bedi’ to win ‘roman Magsaysay Award’ and so on. Today our seniors have been blessed with the amazing friend called ‘T.v’ . All comforts and splendid luxuries of the modern world are within our approach. There are many more factors to be counted which assure us that we are better placed then our fore dads were, that we are happier than they were. But is this pleasure real. No doubt, materialistically, we are far better then our fore parents. But spiritually, socially and fairly, we are far behind our forefathers. They were lucky enough to have appreciation with mother nature. They enjoyed the beauty of features, they inhaled fresh air but today man is so much filled with problems such as noise, pollution like air pollution, water pollution, vision pollution. He has no time, understanding and patience to know the depth and enjoy the warmth of interaction. He is alone in the jungle of concrete.
Two hundred and sixty years back, ‘Vir Hakikat rai’ become the martyr at the young age of fifteen for the benefit of his dharma. But today, fifteen years old are being groomed as terrorist. Be it Sierra Leone, be it Palestine, be it Afghanistan or be it Pakistan. Our four fathers were not bit by the bug of consumerism. They were simple people with high considering. But today’s men are not only affected individuals of consumerism but also that of cut throat competitors. Today’s man has diminished his happiness at the altar of materialistic again. No doubt today’s emancipated woman is playing the role of a social worker, a governmental leader, an professional, a pilot and an designer but she is in her role as a house maker and a loving, caring and individual mother. No doubt, sati system has disappeared from the social scene but broken marriages and divorce have showed up. We get enjoyment in fact that today’s e-mail is much quicker then flight of bird. But we forget that today e-mail is more being used by scammers and terrorists to spread the message of hate then the message of love. Who can deny the facts that we can touch the higher height than our ancestors and forefathers? Our flight is so high that not only today’s men has successfully touched the tall systems of world trade centre but also turned these into rubble in few moments. Oh! Our poor forefather. They had great faith in ‘slow and stable wins the race’ but we are going so fast that one more step advised by our ego and we will be back to stone age. Today’s man has designed not only nuclear bombs but also the nuclear family members. Are we not limited of all love and passion that a joint family provided, of all the wiseness that passed from grandparents to grandchild, of all sanskar , all the value that are the central source of a community. I highly feel that as far as content welfare and progress are worried we are far better and more happy than our forefathers. But as far as religious growth and evolution are concerned, we like nonviolence simplicity, sympathy, co-existence, collaboration and charity.
