The 14th of February, generally known as the Valentine’s Day is celebrated in different parts of the world as a day to show ones love. This day not only enjoys love between couples but love of every form be it a girl’s love for a mother or love between two friends. During this day people buy gifts for their liked ones and they also do specific things to please them.
You can buy for your special someone an ideal heart designed soft toy, a box of delightful chocolates, a bouquet of gorgeous flowers or even anything handmade like a greeting card showing the eternal love you have for your special person. Isn’t this actually what every woman desire to receive from her associate? Well this is the usual custom followed in most part of the world.
Other than 14th of February many countries have different customs and various schedules which they think about as the day to celebrate love. In Japan and South Korea, the tradition seems to be opposite. It is the women who gift chocolates to their men on this day. But the gift trading is mutual. The men give non-chocolate toffees to the women on March 14, known as White Day.
If we talk about the origin of Valentine’s Day we come across a number of legends. According to one legend there was an Emperor in Rome named Claudius II. He was a king who was always engaged in bloody strategies. Claudius II faced difficulty in finding capable soldiers to join his army. He had this idea that Roam people did not want to go to battle because they did not want to leave their loved ones. Therefore Claudius did not allow Roams to get engaged or married. In such a scenario, during 269 AD, Saint Valentine’s of Rome along with his friend Saint Marius decided to secretly perform wedding ceremonies for young people and they defied the rule set up by the emperor. The Emperor came to know about this and Saint Valentine was sentenced to death. Valentine was beaten with clubs till he died and then he was beheaded. The 14th of February, the day when Saint Valentine was killed is celebrated all across the world as Valentine’s Day.
Some people believe that the source of the Valentine’s Day may be linked to another event. Earlier in Rome the 14th of February was celebrated a holiday in honor of the goddess Juno who was the goddess of wedding and women. She was also regarded to be the Queen of all other Roman deities.
Though this day is celebrated in many parts of the world but it is not considered as a holiday. People come up with impressive ideas to celebrate this day. Many people wait for this special day to propose to their loved ones. During this day special programs like romantic movies are telecaster on television. To rejoice this festival people go out and party with their loved ones. Some may go out on unique dinner dates and so on. Young people in all parts of the world enjoy Valentine Day with a lot of enthusiasm and zeal.
