New Delhi: Courtesy his stupendous run at the Wimbledon, Rohan Bopanna these days became the highest-ranked Indian in the globe as he obtained profession-most effective rank of five in the ATP doubles charts.
Bopanna with French associate Eduard Roger-Vasselin achieved the semi-finals at the grass court Grand Slam, losing to eventual winners Mike and Bob Bryan.
“It is an incredibly proud time for my team and personally, as this position is a true testimony of the many years of hard work, focus and dedication. Being for the first time, the greatest ranked Indian makes this all that more unique and is an added inspiration to execute better with every passing game,” Bopanna said.
The Indian although said it complicated to say if he would like to proceed with Roger-Vasselin.
“It is too earlier to speculate, though Eduardo and I are in discussion on continuing this relationship given the great run we have had in the two weeks at Wimbledon,” he said.
Right after Bopanna at number six is his regular partner for 2013 season Mahesh Bhupathi, who also lost in the quarter-finals in London with Austrian partner Julian Knowle.
Leander Paes (9) was also backing again in the top-10 complimentary his semi-final appearance with Czech associate Radek Stepanek.
Left-hander Divij Sharan, who created his debut at the Grand Slams at Wimbledon via determining, also obtained his career-best rank of 89 after gaining three places.
Divij is fourth Indian, who features in top-100. His partner Purav Raja (115) also got to his best rank
In the single people, Somdev Devvarman continued to be country’s number singles player at 131, followed by Saketh Myneni (131).
In the women’s ranking, Sania Mirza slid to world number 19 in doubles, after a loss of four positions.
