As the first guru of Sikh’s SRI GURU NANAK DEV JI considered married life as one of the most important factor to achieve religious and spiritual satisfaction.In Sikhism wedding is taken as meeting of two souls living in different bodies. Sikh people start their wedding ceremony with the blessings of God praying in front of THE HOLY SRI GURU GRANTH SAHIB JI. After taking the blessings groom with his family went to destination where wedding function is organized, on taking breakfast the family members of both bride and groom reach at Gurudwara for the religious ceremony called Anand kaarz after which both bride and groom declared as husband wife. The Anand kaarz starts with Ardass(holy prayer) in which only fathers and both bride and groom take part .Then starts the other important event called lavan in which couple has to walk around the SRI GURU GRANTH SAHIB JI four times.In this bride has to follow groom while walking by keeping one end of Groom’s clothe in her hand.On completion of laavan the ANAND SAHIB prayer is sung by Granthi(person who is in charge).Now again Ardas is conducted in which every people present there has to take part in it.At last HUKAMNAMA(order) is taken from GURU GRANTH SAHIB JI and asked the couple to follow instructions of GURU GRANTH SAHIB JI in their whole life.This ceremony ends with the serving of holy Prasad.
